“We want to make sure that each and every citizen gets the opportunity once it is available,” Mr. Senesie said adding that despite the many challenges they managed to sail through.
Mr. Senesie further disclosed that the beneficiaries should count themselves lucky, stating that they will be serving as ambassadors representing the country, adding that the way they behave will paint an image of the country.
“We want to see the best from you out there, so that when once you are back home you can serve your country diligently and we will make sure we increase the productivity that is required,” Mr. Senesie said.
According to the Student Secretary, Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, Emmanuel Sandy, eleven students were given their parcels containing passport and tickets to pursue their various courses in Russia, noting that the process was started by the former government before the separation of the two ministries.
Sierra Leone, Sandy said is part of the global world and has friends, Russia among them. He cited that they have a very strong bilateral relationship with Russia with education being one component.
“Initially, there were fourteen students for the scholarship but two opted out,” Sandy said adding that the ministry was late to replace the two because of time.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries Posseh Kamara commended the ministry and government for making the day possible for them to secure the scholarship in continuation of higher education in Russia.
