This was according to the Country Manager (CM) of Bollore Transport and Logistics, Fabjanko Kokan who was updating the press on latest developments at the Quay yesterday 17th September in Freetown.
According to the CM, Bollore is well known for its adherence to Cooperate Social Responsibility within and sometime out of its operations jurisdiction. He said the company has spent millions of dollars to train and capacitate its workers so as to ensure human development capability.
He went on that as at yesterday, the company employs 98% local staff with top managerial positions, adding that the company’s successes are based on respect and human development for staff, in which staff are paid on times and are provided with medical and safety measures.
“At Bollore, we have health and safety policies that are second to no other company, as we go with the belief that no company can succeed without these major factors.” Mr. Kokan noted, adding further that within 2015 to date, the company is yet to record any major accident at operation sites.
He said every year Bollore spent over 2 billion leones on staff medical and that the company’s safety policy extends to staff even when they are off operations sites.
Kokan went on to say in 2011, thirty thousand containers were offloaded at the quay but that to date, every year, fifty-five thousand containers are offloaded.
