The two main political parties presidential candidates were among other presidential candidates and their running mates to have breakfast with the former President of Ghana; His Excellence John D. Mahama.

Other Sierra Leone political figures at yesterday’s breakfast included Ing. Andrew Keili of the National Grand Coalition (NGC), Dr. Baba Kandeh of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) among several others.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly with H.E. John D. Mahama exchanging pleasantries and words of encouragement to the presidential candidates as well as urging them to embrace each other even though only one of them would emerge president of Sierra Leone, adding that at the end of the day, the continued peace and quiet of Sierra Leone as its citizens exercise their democratic right is far more important than any individual or political party’s ambition.

Dr. Samura Kamara and Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio shook hands and exchanged pleasantries with each other and discussed heartily with the visiting former Ghanaian president.

The event was witnessed by respective political party supporters, and a host of other people including the media.

“This is exactly the way our leaders should tolerate each other even after the election because at the end of the day Sierra Leone is far bigger than our separate individual interests,” said one observer.
