According to Holland-Cole they enacted a law as a council during their last annual monthly meeting in which they agreed that children below the age of 18 years unless they are accompanied by responsible adults will not be allowed to stay on the beach after 7pm, adding that anyone caught will face the full force of the law.
“We are not going to allow schools that organize beach outings to stay on the beach after 7 pm,” Holland-Cole said, adding that they cannot stop them from organizing outings because it is part of their school curriculum but that as a council it is their responsibility to regulate such outings for security and other reasons.
Mr. Cole disclosed that are working in partnership with the Police for to ensure that outing organizers book for permission and sign to agreeing with the terms and conditions laid down by the council.
In his response, Organizing Secretary Bomba Group Company Social Club, Amadu Mansaray said in their hope of driving education, they support the law restrict children under 8 years of staying out after 7pm.
The meeting, according to Mansaray is in place in order to regulate movement of children below 18 years not only on the beachfronts but in other social spots around the ward.
