Ethics and integrity in any work place plays a pivotal role and the work of procurement officers in handling sensitive documents and finances for their different administrations.
Francis Ben Kaifala who is the Commissioner for the Anti-Corruption Commission said the training will help procurement offices make informed choices when dealing with office work, adding that increasing government service delivery to the people of Sierra Leone with integrity and transparency in an atmosphere that is fair for all is paramount to the success of any government.
He went on to say that every procurement officer should follow procurement procedures or else, they would find themselves involved in corruption.
Rashid Turay who is the Director of Systems and Processes Review Department said the role of finance officers, internal auditors and procurement officers is critical in every institution because they are responsible for managing finances and resources.
“Over the years, we realized that most of these officers are not using ethical discussions and practices in managing public institution’s resources, and so we called them to familiarize and discuss ethics, integrity and transparency in executing their work.”
