ACC in Fair, Square and Fierce Fight against Graft

 The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) office in Bo, on Wednesday held a Technical Working Group Meeting with 5 key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) consisting, the Health sector, Education, Sierra Leone Police, Water Resources ministry and Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA). The program was geared towards bringing these MDAs together where reports received from the PNB platform can be discussed, noting challenges and action points which would be synergized into workable administrative strategies that would prevent petty corruption in MDAs.

Giving updates on the PNB activities in that part of the country; the PNB Coordinator South, Jeremy Simbo encapsulated a series of activities of the PNB in the South. He said they had engaged in massive public sensitization about the free quality education and other related issues to the PNB in the region. He highlighted some challenges of bribery and extortion in key ministries such as Health, Education and the Sierra Leone Police and said there were reports in respect of these MDAs and urged that the said institutions take action to address these problems. Speaking on the PNB Report for June and July 2018, the representative of Coffey International Whitsun Ade-Cole gave a detailed analysis of the report by carefully identifying the highs and lows of the reporting trend of petty corruption for key MDAs.

He said the report was received from the public through the PNB reporting platform; noting that, the figures reflect the trend and pattern of petty corruption in the various MDAs. He lauded some MDAs for recording low reports on bribery for the reporting period, and urged others to institute measures that will mitigate petty corruption in their institutions. The meeting ended by a general pledge of all participants in ensuring that strategies would be implemented to prevent corruption in their respective MDAs
