Mr. Monson and Mr. Janneh were convicted on the offences of misappropriation of donor funds contrary to section 37(1) and conspiracy to commit a corruption offence contrary to section 128(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008. The convicts had taken a guilty plea and were sentenced to three years imprisonment.
It can be recalled that Mr. Monson and Janneh on diverse dates in 2015, being staff of World Vision dishonestly appropriated to their personal use and benefit Twelve Million, One Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand Leones (Le12, 193,000) by registering eighty nine (89) fake names as residents of Nengbema in Bo District to be qualified to receive World Food Program (WFP) Ebola food aid payments. Â
The State was represented by Calvin Mantsebo Esq., and the convicts by A.I Bangura Esq., and T.P.M Sowa Esq.
The Commission reiterates that, it will at all times continue to strengthen the fight against corruption and will go after petty and grand corruption nationwide
