ACC Secures Convictions Against Traffic Wardens

Borbordin Bangura later accepted Two Million Leones (Le2, 000.000) from the motorist, for his personal benefit, in return for releasing the clamped vehicle without the knowledge of his SLRSA bosses, thereby depriving the state of much needed revenue.

When the ACC went to effect a legal arrest on Borbordin Bangura at the SLRSA Headquarters in Freetown, Gbessay Sesay and Mohamed Abayomi Tejan, assisted Borbordin Bangura to obstruct and assault the ACC officers inorder to forcefully prevent them from the discharge of their mandate.

Sesay and Tejan, who had pleaded not guilty, have changed their pleas to guilty as charged. Justice Brown-Marke sentenced both men to a fine of six million (Le6,000.000) and five million Leones (Le5,000.000) respectively; or both men be imprisoned for three years. Meanwhile, the case against Borbordin Bangura is still ongoing. Lawyer Franklyn Campbell represented the ACC.

The Commission wishes to reassure the general public of its relentless resolve to pursue bribery at all levels in Sierra Leone. Accordingly, the commission will soon launch its nationwide ‘Pay No Bribe’ campaign. The object of the campaign is to improve public service delivery across the country.
