Public Education Officer, Sahr Nabieu whilst addressing the people of Tongo said, that PNB Outreach sensitization meeting is to increase public knowledge and awareness on bribery and small scale corruption prevalent in service delivery sectors. He added that, the event was organized to increase the Commission’s presence and to encourage frank and sincere conversation around issues of bribery and petty corruption. He called on the participants to own the PNB campaign and report bribery using the 515 phone number, or the PNB mobile APP which can be downloaded on google play/play store.
Ibrahim Bangalie, PNB Coordinator Kono said in his statement that bribery is a disease and should be fought by every Sierra Leonean. He encouraged the audience to make use of the PNB reporting portal.
Making the PNB visible to the participants, Sub-Regional Manager, Wilfred Bangura gave an overview of the PNB and its operational mandate. He took them through the reporting platform 515, www.pnb.gov.sl and the mobile apps in Krio, Mende and Temne.
The Manager emphasized that the “Hub and Spokes” is an external outreach activity that takes the PNB work to adjoining District. He stated that the activity will help the people who were not reached by the other ACC teams to benefit from the PNB messages. He called on them to resist, reject and report bribery free to 515 phone line.
In her contribution, Salamatu Sow of the 50/50 Group Tongo lauded the ACC for educating them on bribery and petty graft. She said bribery at police station, checkpoints and schools was visible. She noted that with the 515, they will never give bribe and will always call 515 to report any incidences of bribery in Tongo.
Questions and answers and the distribution of PNB IEC materials to the participants climaxed the outreach engagement.
