He told the court that he was seriously tortured by personnel at the Criminal Investigation Department headquarter on Pademba Road in Freetown and was also forced to identify the second accused Mohamed Garba (aka Gray) as one of the people that took part in the alleged murder of the deceased at his Samuel Town residence.
According to the first accused person he had never known the second accused and was also coerced to single out the second accused during identification parade conducted by personnel attached to Criminal Investigation Department headquarter that investigated and charged the matter to court.
The allegation levied against the police by the first accused prompted his Lawyer Julian Cole to request for an adjournment so as to enable him properly peruse his client’s statement to the police, considering the fact the first accused Osman Fornah has uttered very serious statements relating to his client and needed to pursue his case on a solid legal foundation.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Kamara who prosecuted the matter objected to the claims made by the first accused and suggested that he accused is deceiving the court.
However, Magistrate Moody granted the request made by Lawyer Julian Cole for the matter to be adjourned and ordered that both accused persons be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter comes up again on Wednesday 18th October 2017.
