The attackers from the alleged SLPP side stormed Sweissy and destroyed campaigns poster of APC Presidential Candidate Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Samura as a way of revenge.
The ugly incident left many people badly wounded and hospitalized while some others sustained minor injuries and properties worth millions of leones destroyed.
The battle extended when the alleged APC supporters retaliated and attacked the SLPP Headquarters on Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown where more injury and property destructions were recorded, save for the very late and inactive intervention of the Sierra Leone Police, the madness was stopped.
Earlier on describing the attack, Chairman of Sweissy Jewelers, Foday Mansaray said they have been encountering similar clashes on several occasions. He said this was not the first time clashes of such madness have been happening at Sweissy between alleged supporters of the two political parties, adding that it is time the authorities step in and prevent further occurrences of the madness.
He recommended that a deployment or constant patrolling of police officers on the Wallace Johnson Street axis, especially at Sweissy be effected so as to prevent more political clashes.
