This, according to him, means that results of pupils that would not be found guilty of engaging in examination malpractice would be released while subject grades and/or results of those found wanton would be cancelled.
It could be recalled that the exams office withheld the results of close to two thousand pupils who took the 2015 WASSCE examination.
According to WAEC, the results were withheld on suspicions of examination malpractice pending investigation.
However, the children’s foundation seeking justice on behalf of the affected pupils is not optimistic that the assertion of the WAEC boss would come to past as several failed promises have preceded this new one.
The Executive Director of the Fontricia Children’s Foundation, Abdul Fonti has described the statement of the WAEC boss as a move to ‘buy time’ in a bid to slow down the #give-us-our-results campaign.
“The exams office would always tell the public of this investigation committee that looks into exams malpractice suspicions but would never report back to the public on its findings, while the future of thousands of pupils is being destroyed,” Fonti said, while disclosing that his foundation will no longer rely on the slow pace of WAEC.
He disclosed that the lawyers of the #give-us-our-results campaign have advised that WAEC be dragged to court for proper account of the results of the pupils.
“Our campaign lawyers have addressed a letter to exams office with a seven-day ultimatum to produce case-by-case evidences of examination malpractice perpetrated by these children or face court action,” Fonti disclosed.
“We are going to ensure that we end the culture of impunity at WAEC and expose exams malpractices being perpetrated by the very WAEC; enough is enough,” he concluded.
