PRESS RELEASE

ADP CONDEMNS ‘BLACK SHEEP’ IN PRESIDENT KOROMA’S CABINET RESUFFLE!

The leadership of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) condemns the unconstitutional appointment of the former United Democratic Party (UDM) leader, Mohamed Bangura as Minister of Information and Communications.

The ADP party perceives the erstwhile UDM leader as not qualify to serve as a Minster in the recent cabinet reshuffle that awaits Parliamentary approval.

The action of President Koroma in appointing Mohamed Bangura is in total breach of Act No. 6 of the 1991 constitution having contested the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary election is clear that he is not qualified based on his participation.

According to section 56 (2) A person shall not be appointed a minister or deputy minister unless; (b) he has contested and lost as a candidate in the general election immediately preceding his nomination for appointment.

The ADP is therefore calling on lawmakers to reject the approval of any Presidential nominee which is in violation of the country’s constitution. We cannot continue to have a situation where a ruling government is always taking pleasure in violating the national constitution.

We are further calling on well meaning Sierra Leoneans to oppose this appointment for the love of the nation particularly for the benefit of our unborn generation.

The ADP is a party that believes in the Rule of Law, Separation of Powers and upholding the tenets of democracy. It has been recorded in the political history of the country that President Koroma is known for his constitutional breaches. We will not allow a reoccurrence of such undemocratic actions.

Long Live Sierra Leone!
Long Live Democracy!
