With AYV’s Joecelia Gbondo just back from Bo
In an exclusive interview with AYV Newspaper, Officer-in-charge of Crimes at the Bo Town Central Police Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustine Kabia gave a thorough insight on crime rate in the town.
He said the crime rate has reduced significantly because his division made a huge arrest of culprits from major gang groups in the town; who were causing discomfort to inhabitants of Bo.
ASP Kabia noted that the young gang members made use of different kinds of potentially dangerous weapons such as scissors, syringes with blood samples of all shapes and sizes against rival gang groups and ordinary people who stood in their way, during their gang operations.
He disclosed that following several major arrests leading to the detention of perpetrators who now await court trials and verdicts, the Bo City has not been experiencing any form of violence so far.
“The confidence of the people seems to have returned”, ASP Kabia informed. He assured the public that the police will continue to patrol day and night in surveillance. Some Bo residents who spoke to this reporter say they are very pleased with the intervention of the police in restoring calm and security to the city.
Since the end of the civil war in 2002 there has been an increase in homicide, armed robbery, home invasion and car hijacking in Bo Town. Petty crime and pick pocketing, including cell phones theft is also very common in the city.
