Boost for female survivors

Paramount Chief of the Chiefdom, Foday Alimamy Jalloh iii, said OXFAM has been very instrumental in supporting his chiefdom. He pointed out that the organization made great contributions to the chiefdom during the Ebola epidemic. He therefore described the support as hope for the female survivors.

“OXFAM was the first to come to our aid when the Ebola epidemic strokes our chiefdom and for that we will forever grateful to them.” Alimamy Jalloh said.

Explaining the importance of the training, National Advocacy and Campaign Officer at OXFAM, Konima Bobor-Kamara described the training as one that aimed at empowering the women, especially on improving their business skills and that it was also a means of sustaining and enhancing business ability of the survivors.

“We conduct this training to help female survivors stand back again and the provided money is not for feeding your homes or to support your husbands, but as a result of this training you will be able to understand the basic skills in business management.” Konima Bobor-kamara maintained.

President, Sierra Leone Association of Ebola Survivors appealed to the direct beneficiaries to effectively utilize the grant for the purpose it meant for, as he stressed that the various donors are currently folding up. He reiterated that the only instrument that would happened to be with them could be the skills they acquired.
