“I felt in love with Sierra Leoneans as well as the entire country” Sander said.
He noted that every children should have the inalienable right to education, as a result of this he responded to the called of the founder of the Association of Wellbeing for Rural Communities Hon Dr. Alhaji Bafoday Sumah of constituency 40 and that he gladly accepted the request and provided the support for the chiefdom, as he described Sierra Leone as a unique country.
Founder, Association of Wellbeing for Rural Communities, Hon Dr. Alhaji Bafoday Sumah extended gratitude to the people of Bassia for their patient, and described the people of Bassia as ‘down to earth’ people’s, he however cautioned them to be aware of some malevolent politicians who would be campaigning to them, as he encouraged the people of Bassia to participated in the ongoing voter registration process.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Gibrill Kamara extended appreciation to Sunday Foundation , he pointed out that their community had struggled a lot owing to the fact that their community need essential basic facilities for it to be considered develop, he further described the boost as a step in the right direction. He added that they would live to tell their children and their children-children about the history made in their community. He noted that since August 2013, when the storm destroyed the only school in Bassia all hope was gone, he affirmed that people were anticipated for the establishment of a structure for schooling purpose in their community again, he promised on behalf of the community to cooperate when the building process project commenced.
Head teacher of the affected school, Mohamed Kamara said that the boost from Sunday Foundation was a welcome news, he described the boost as a timely intervention owing to the fact that education is the smooth road to success, he affirmed that people at that part of the country deserved western education, which they were being deprived of.
An elder of Bassia, Santigie Sani Dumbuya said that people are living in abject poverty in their community as he explained that they were unable to afford meal sometimes, he further emphasized that the high rate of poverty at that part of the country had been a major challenged to the extent that they could not afford to send their children to school, since the storm destroyed the only school in their community, he made a general plea to goodwill sierra Leoneans to support them as they are confronting so many challenges at the moment.
The peoples of Magbema Chiefdom had crowned Sander De Kamer as their chief, Pa Komrabai Ouwe Debbie Kolent for his relentless support geared towards educational empowerment in their chiefdom.
