Child Rapists Jailed for 6 & 7 Years

In the case of the first, he penetrated the sex organ of a thirteen years old girl on 3rd August 2018 in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The Offence of Sexual Penetration committed by the convict Ibrahim Bangura, contravenes Section (19) of the Sexual Offences Act N0.12 of 2012 of the Laws of Sierra Leone.

During the trial process, the convict pleaded guilty to the Offence charged, but in her plea of mitigation, Counsel for he convict, M. S. Kallon informed the court that the convict did not waste the court’s time to plead guilty to the Offence charged.

She said that the convict, Ibrahim Bangura has learnt his lessons, and that during the trial process he was remorseful and has been in custody since 2018.

Delivering his judgment, Ho. Justice Abubakar Binneh Kamara intimated the court that he has listened to the plea of mitigation made by Counsel for the Convict, but considering the nature and seriousness of the Offence charged, he was left with no option but to slam seven jail term on the convict, Ibrahim Bangura.

The State was represented by Barrister, Y. I. Sesay.

Similarly, the second convict, Alhaji Katu Sesay was jailed for six years for penetrating the sex organ of a thirteen years old girl, contrary to the aforementioned section which the first convict violated.

Both convicts were defended by Lawyer M. S. Kallon and they have started serving their jail term at the Male Correction Centre at Pademba Road in the western part of Freetown.
