Despite the fact that the New Direction government of President Julius Maada Bio has assured Sierra Leoneans of their safety, tongues are wagging over the current alleged defiance of the APC to honor the Commissions but this is yet to be.
Some political commentators say the Commission is good for the people of Sierra Leone as long as it serves its purpose while protecting the rights of citizens and respecting the laws of the land.
Speaking to some parents around Freetown, they said they are worried about the setting up of the Commission and equally worried over the safety of their children during the progress of the inquiry. Aminata Sesay a parent of two children said she is afraid of sending them to school because she believes that unpatriotic Sierra Leoneans that are not in support of the Inquiry could be waiting for the slightest opportunity to create havoc and disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed.
Another parent Kadie Bangura said someone called her from Makeni claiming that police and soldiers were parading the city. “That news scared me a lot and that was that why I refused to send my children to school until I feel more confident that their safety is guaranteed,” she maintained.
Osman Koroma who is a driver told AYV that the Inquiry is good for Sierra Leoneans and government officials but that he is hoping that everything pans out smoothly because the security of children is paramount.
It could be recalled that when President Bio launched the Commissions of Inquiry, he issued stern warning to anyone harboring any intention to flout the dictates, rules or invitation of the Commission of Inquiry.
