Eyewitness reports state that military officers and a number of civilians were onboard the aforementioned vehicle heading to a funeral ceremony of their dead colleague when the accident occurred. RSLAF sources said the incident was being investigated.
On the same day around the Lumley Roundabout a truck belonging to the Sierra Leone Police (a water bowser) capsized when negotiating a curve, according to eye witnesses. However, eye witnesses said there were no fatalities save for injuries sustained by the police officers that were onboard the vehicle and a few pedestrians who received injuries when they fled from the scene.
