Dr. Fouad Sheriff maintained that the Cotton Tree Pharmacy is established mainly to meet the needs of Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad. Dr. Sheriff whose expertise includes diabetes, cardiology, dermatology, oncology, gastrointestinal diseases, rheumatology and HIV said that the Cotton Tree Pharmacy is a one—stop health care center where people should feel free to go and ask questions to trained and experienced pharmacists.
“No matter where you are in the world if a member of your family is unwell and you need proper medication you can easily help,” assured Dr. Sheriff, adding that payments can be made online and they can dispense the very same day. He continued to state that they can deliver medicines throughout the country. Dr. Sheriff went on to say that their medicines are procured from providers that are WHO certified for quality. He said that one innovative aspect of the pharmacy is that those in the diaspora who need to get medicines to their family can order and pay for medication online. He stated that their loved ones in Sierra Leone who would have brought their prescription to the pharmacy will get an alert that their medicines are ready to pick up and or delivery.
Dr. Sheriff said that he is currently on medical mission to Sierra Leone with a team of health professionals from the diaspora. He said that he returns annually to Sierra Leone to provide free medical services to communities in need. He added that it was on these missions in Sierra Leone that he noticed that too many patients do not have access to genuine quality medication. Dr. Sheriff is different from all other pharmacies in the country because the pharmacists will not sell any drugs without prescription from a medical professional. He added that he is doing it to change some of the nefarious attitude of some pharmacists in Sierra Leone that are engaging in the habit of selling drugs without prescription.
