According to the court records, the Sierra Leone Football Association and its Secretary General had wanted to organize a play-off competition for football clubs only in the north of the country, but the decision was legally challenged by four Applicants in the High Court of Sierra Leone, presided over by Hon. Justice Komba Kamanda.
The four Applicants are; Augustine Kambo, Joseph Mboagba, Tamba Gbetuwa and Mohamed Bello Yillah.
They claimed that the Sierra Leone Football Association and its Secretary General Christopher Kamara’s decision to organize a play-off only for football clubs in the northern part of the country, without the inclusion of football clubs in Freetown and the various other districts is illegal and contravenes the Sierra Leone Football Association Constitution.
When the adjudicating Judge. Hon Justice Komba Kamanda commenced proceeding, he informed the well-attended court that he received an affidavit in opposition from the legal team for the Applicants this morning, dated Thursday 26th September 2019.
The learned Judge noted that the affidavits in opposition touches and concerns orders prayed for the stay of dismissal of the substantive motion filed to the High Court of Sierra Leone.
Lead Counsel for the Applicants, A. S. Marrah also informed the court that they received documents from Counsel representing the Applicant/ Respondents, S. Bah in the evening hours of Yesterday, Thursday 26 September 2019.
But Lawyer S. Bah however assured the court that she would file an affidavits in reply to the Applicants affidavits in opposition on Monday 30th September 2019/
In his wisdom, Hon. Justice Komba Kamanda made it crystal that since the legal teams for both parties are yet to complete the filling of papers relevant to the matter under adjudication, his court could not proceed or delve into legal any issues.
“When the legal teams for both parties complete their filling, the court will begin legal argument into the matter,” Hon. Justice Kamanda concluded.
