Donald Theo Harding, who triples as Managing Editor of Salone Times Newspaper, Chairperson of the Guild of Newspaper Editors and Board Member of the ACC, has been indicted on a 10-count charge of seditious and defamatory libel, contrary to certain provisions of the 1965 Public Order Act, along his Editor Thomas Dixon.
The Editor of New Age Newspaper, Ibrahim Samura and Dickson have also been summoned to appear in court on four counts of related charges, also based on complaints filed by NATCOM.
The charges are based on a number of articles published in Salone Times and New Age newspapers in March 2017, criticizing mobile tariff increases by Airtel and Africell telecommunications companies, amidst poor service deliveries, under the watchful eyes of NATCOM, which the latter considers unfavourable.
