The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, has posted on TWITTER the following message about the accident in Freetown.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Sierra Leone for the loss of life and injuries caused by a fuel tanker blast in Freetown. These are extended to relatives and close friends of the victims”.

In another development, last week two Sierra Leonean students who graduated in Cuba, Doctors Joe Amara Koroma and Albert Ina Charles, visited the Cuban Embassy in Freetown where they were received by the Head of the Mission, Ambassador Félix Raúl Rojas Cruz and his wife and in Charge of Consular Affairs, Ana Maria Garcia.

During the meeting, the recent graduates shared the experiences of their stay in the largest of the Antilles. Both expressed their gratitude towards Cuba and the vision of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, which, they expressed, helped pave the way to transform their childhood dreams into reality.

Despite the US blockade against that country and the tough fight against COVID-19, which Cubans have faced with their own vaccines, Cuba has continued to receive young students from all over the world, especially from the African continent, offering them the opportunity, as these Sierra Leonean doctors put it, to transform their dreams into reality.
