According to the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Solomon Jamiru stated that journalists should be well training and qualified to carry out his or her duty professionally.
He made these remarks, when members of the Court Reporters Association paid a familiarization visit at his Youyi Building offices at Brookfield’s, with the view to canvassing him and the ministry to support members of the association with training facility and workshop in other to enable members report both civil and criminal proceedings competently and professionally.
On behalf of the Minister and staff of the ministry, Solomon Jamiru expressed thanks and appreciation to members of the Court Reporter Association for the visit and consciousness of members in their quest for capacity building.
He further assured members of the association that he would inform the minister, staff of the visit and concerns expressed by it members of the association.
 Delivering her vote of thanks, a senior executive members of the association Jane Bangura thanked the deputy minister for the warm welcome and hospitality he accorded members of the association.
She reiterated the association’s request for better training facility and capacity building programmes for members of the association.
Journalist Jane Bangura concluded that such training facility would go a long way in developing the capacity of journalists in particular and the media landscape in Sierra Leone in general.
