Leader and Presidential candidate for the just concluded June elections of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Dr. Mathew Wilson Samura Kamara, Saidu Nallo, Foday Vahfomba Bawoh, Adikali F. Suma, Dr. Samura Kamara, Kandeh F. B Kamara and Jules S. Davis are set to make another appearance in court today Friday 14th July, 2023 at the High Court of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Samura Kamara is standing trial on corruption allegations of misappropriation of public funds.
It was alleged by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) that Dr. Samura Kamara misled the principal and misappropriated public funds meant for the renovation of Sierra Leone’s Chancery Building in New York when he was Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in the previous APC administration years ago.
The former foreign affairs minister is also being accused of misleading the principal.
Dr. Samura Kamara has many times denied the allegations claiming that the case was politically motivated to smear his image and reputation.
The High Court of Sierra Leone presided over by Hon. Justice Adrian Fisher overruled the No Case Submission filed by Saidu Nallo, Foday Vahfomba Bawoh, Adikali F. Suma, Dr. Samura Kamara, Kandeh F. B Kamara and Jules S. Davis.
Lawyers of Dr. Samura Kamara who had earlier asked the Court to throw the Case out without them needing to do a Defense because they say the Prosecution by the ACC has not made any case against Dr. Samura Kamara.
