The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) is preparing to conduct elections for Village Heads across the entire Western Rural Area District in the coming weeks.
The elections of Village Heads is part of the constitutional mandate of the EC-SL. The Commission enjoys administrative independence and says it “aims to achieve high levels of effectiveness, accountability, neutrality and efficiency necessary to ensure autonomy as mandated by law” in conducting the said elections.
“In light of this, the Commission has advertised several vacancies for the conduct of Village Head Elections.
The EC-SL said all positions in the Commission are advertised on an equal opportunity basis and also says that “Women and Persons with Disabilities that have the requisite qualification and experience are encouraged to apply”.
