The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE); Dr. David Sengeh yesterday 15th January, 2020 played host to the First Distinguished Lady of the Makeni City, Her Worship Mayor Sunkarie Kabba-Kamara.
The woman mayor travelled from Makeni to have a meeting with the minister and his team to discuss her vision to open a Junior Secondary School for Girls in Makeni.
According to the minister, yesterday was his first time meeting the Mayor and he left feeling very inspired by her leadership and support of government’s efforts in boosting education.
He said service delivery is a devolved function for basic education and for this he went on, “when I meet leaders seeking to move the niddle quickly, I give them everything”.
The fine minister informed that his ministry’s Director of Inspectorate is already working closely with the Mayor’s Chief Administrator and team to ensure they grant her wish to open a new Junior School for Girls in Makeni this year.
In conclusion the minister said: “Her vision is to have the school be a model school for Science. All music to my ears”, adding that the himself and the minister engaged on other high level matters relating to data, technology and innovation.
