Since the first phase of the excavation and tree planting at the site by United Nation Operations Project Service (UNOPS) what was said to be a deadly zone and rough place is gradually becoming the most developed and suitable forest in the community.
The amount of money spent by the government to plant trees at the site which is to be one of the touristic places in the country will go in vain if not secured.
Bernard James further told AYV that the fertility of the ground will help mend the trees to get taller and stronger and that it will hold the hill from another eruption, citing that they have another fruit of plant that will be beneficiaries to the people and the community.
He went on to say that the site is filled with enough soil, adding that the forest they are trying to preserve is very essential to the country and community as an achievement.
“We are seeing some progress in the site since our first phase of the work” Bernard James told AYV, stated that UNOPS and the government are working closely to secure the place from people that may want to deforest it.
He added that the continuous deforestation and excavation of the land was the main cause for the disaster, maintaining that the government needs to emphasize for the protection of the land as they cannot do it by themselves.
