Expressing delight and appreciation she said: “I am dedicating this award to all the disabled people and less privileged in the UK around the world. Tonight, this is my commitment and pledge. I am dedicating my entire life to continue my humanitarian work for ever…and my children will continue this work after me.”
She thanked God for the strength and inspiration to continue to work for humanity and noted that that was the highest accolade she had ever received for pioneering campaigns and sensitization bothering on the rights of the physically challenged.
The human rights campaigner pledged her commitment and dedication to doing more in terms of projecting the general welfare and rights of disabled, stating that it was her passion and she was full of pride that she could be recognized for her genuine stance towards humanity.
“I have always loved treating others with kindness, compassion, empathy, dignity and respect. Every human being deserves that on earth. I want to thank Dr. Pauline Long and organizers of the award ceremony”, she said.
Madam Kamara said her organisation had been actively engaged in the global fight against poverty, supported child education, organised skilled training and undertook sustainable and other developmental projects that would alleviate huge challenges of the vulnerable persons.
“The history cannot be completed without outlining my personal experience as a child of a disabled mother and inspiration in forming this organization which stems from childhood. My mother suffered because of her disability”, she recalled, adding that she wouldn’t want any child to go through the same discrimination and scorn that her mother endured.
“We thank God that through my institution’s rigorous and robust campaigns the Government of Sierra Leone enacted the disability law and appointed disabled into cabinet positions in the persons of Mustapha Bai Attila, which was a first in the history of the physically challenged”, she said.
