FoRUT Supports Tombo Flood Victims

According to the Executive Director of FoRUT  Boi Jeneh Jalloh, the support is to address the needs of the pupils and ensure they continue their education. She added that FoRUT as a national civil society organization has been working towards strengthening communities to demand for their rights to engage in economic opportunities and secure their livelihood.  She added that Tombo is among the communities they operate in. She added that their work focuses on sensitizing people against the harmful use of drugs especially among young people. She further said that ensuring young people realize their goals especially on education is key to them.

Because of the August flooding the Executive Director noted that lots of parents have been complaining that they have been finding it difficult to send their children to school. This support which included books, bags, uniforms and other school materials is geared towards addressing the needs of the affected victims and also to contribute to the government free quality education. She therefore appealed to parents to make good use of the materials.

Representing the headman of Tombo was Osman Smith. He commended FoRUT for the support noting that they are one of the organizations which has supported the community greatly. He described the gifts as timely and urged parents to make good use of the materials and ensure that their children are sent to school.

Kadijatu Kamara a pupil attending the Tombo Secondary one of the beneficiaries commended FoRUT for the materials, adding that it is timely and will help them greatly in their academic work. She noted that they have been finding it difficult going to school without learning materials as they are sometimes driven away by teachers because of lack of learning materials.
