Freetown Mayor Applauds Mercury

 “We are happy to see Mercury International as the first Cooperate institution to give their support towards the ‘Transform Freetown’ initiative project. We are pleased to see Mercury International joining us in our campaign as we look forward to other cooperate bodies to follow your footsteps,” she said and further thanked the Company for a positive reposed to their call.

Board Chairman of Mercury International, Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh who officially presented the ‘Street Rubbish Collection Bins’ said the company is delighted to support the ‘Transform Freetown’ initiative project, adding that it is a show of their commitment towards the strides by the Council.

He said: “We are always ready to support the Freetown City Council and as a show of our commitment, our initial plan was to make a donation of 30 collection bins, but we are going to increase the number to another 30 set which gives a total of 60 collection bins.”      

The ‘Transform Freetown’ initiative by the FCC, which was recently unveiled by the President aims at changing the city by addressing 11 priority areas which fall under four clusters: Human Development, Healthy Cities, Resilience, and Urban Mobility.

To be able to tackle these challenges, three priority sectors – environmental management, revenue mobilisation and urban planning and housing – are considered to help achieve this.
