ASP Deen alleged that the accused on Sunday 28th October, 2018, at Furniture Junction, Allen Town, eastern Freetown, due to careless driving, murdered his wife, Kadiatu Fillie.
Testifying before the court, the lead investigator in the matter, Detective Police Constable 9268, Joseph J. Thulley, said he knew the accused in the matter. He recalled 7th November, 2018, when a case file of Murder was transferred from Calaba Town Police Station to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, and the matter assigned to him for further investigation.
He said the matter was jointly investigated by the Criminal Investigation Departments and the Traffic Unit Department, adding that the remains of the deceased were later identified to him.
He said that on the same day, a request for post- mortem was prepared and given to Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma, the Government Consultant Pathologist, for autopsy to be done on the remains of the deceased.
He told the court that on 9th November, 2018, together with his colleagues, witnessed the post mortem examination on the remains of the deceased, adding that on 12th November, they commenced interview with the accused.
He said on 15th November, 2018, the investigating team visited the scene of crime at Furniture Junction, Allen Town, East Part of Freetown, and Abu Bakarr Kargbo, an eyewitness was introduced to him at the crime scene.
He said Kargbo narrated the incident to the investigating team, adding that the accused also narrated the incident to the team of investigators.
