Gay’s disappearance puts family under pressure

Share

Michael Yillah is the elder brother of the missing Edward. He said the family was shocked when news broke out that their family member was at the gay party raided, as according to him, the family has a strong Islamic background that is strongly against same sex relationships.

Mr. Yillah said they were not aware of their brother’s involvement into gay relationship, pointing out that their late father was one of the heads of the Mosque in their community.

According to friends of Vall, he was indoctrinated by a friend to becoming a gay at the age of 15 while attending the Collegiate Memorial School.

‘They were together even at the Fouray Bay College, where they were studying Peace and Conflict before he went missing,” colleagues disclose.

Michael Yillah disclosed that the family has been subjected to stigmatization and even physical threats of violence since the disappearance of their brother, noting that the family house at 149 Jomo Kenyatta Road is under constant threats of attacks.

He further expressed concern over the life of their brother whom they have not heard from since the incident.

“With the growing threats of violence and intimidation from even community members and the Islamic family, we fear that he would be manhandled and killed even if he is still alive,” he said.
