It can be recalled that in August this year, the President launched the free quality education and since then, several institutions have been helping to promote the drive.
Addressing pupils at the various schools, the Managing Director (MD) of the Bank, Ade Adebiyi said the donation was part of the Bank’s CRS and also one way to help promote the free quality education in the country.
He went further to reveal that the Bank has budgeted over 200 hundred million leones to support the country in different sectors. He said the Bank is giving back to the society, adding that being that Sierra Leone is not only Freetown, they are planning to take their support to other parts of the country.
Ade Adebiyi furthered that over the past three years the Bank has been engaged in several activities such as renovation of schools across the country, including the St. John Primary School and the Maranthan Primary School in Freetown and other schools in Kenema district.
“Our support to education is not only limited to government’s free quality education programme, but has been something that the Bank believes in for far too long now” Ade Adebiyi told his audience.
He called on other development partners and institutions operating in the country to support government’s development programmes which, according to him, is a way of reaching the people, especially persons with disability, women, children and the aged.
Concluding, the MD called on teachers to monitor the pupils and ensure that the donated materials are judiciously used.
Pupils from the four different schools appreciated the laudable move by the Bank to choose their schools to benefit from the donation, while assuring that they will make good use of the items.
