Government Offers Another 25-Acre Land to Sierra Leoneans …to construct shopping mall, school, health centre, other public essentials

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning is currently offering land for lease to Sierra Leoneans wishing to construct Shopping Mall, School, Health Centre and other essential public facilities at John Obey, Bureh and Kent villages respectively.

A press release issued yesterday 5th December, 2023 informed that the ministry has secured a 25-acre land at John Obey along the main peninsula highway for the construction of a shopping mall, while inviting the public to send in proposals indicating interest in leasing the said land for the construction of a shopping mall in the said location.

The ministry informed that the design of the shopping mall must have but not limited to a greenery in design (Trees, Grass and Shrubs); recreation and entertainment centers including playground for children and movie, theatres; parking facilities for shoppers; comfort and relaxing ambience a shopping mall offers including a cooling system of world class; security and surveillance in order to build visitors’ trust in their security; provision for exit doors, fire extinguishers, fire and smoke detectors; a well-maintained escalators, elevators and lifts to ensure comfort; and a complete power backup system, water features including fountains and so on.

The ministry has called on interested persons or companies to submit proposals indicating interest and

timelines for the completion of the project to the Front Desk at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning not later than 20th December 2022.

Terms and conditions for the lease the ministry concluded, will be very favourable taking into account that such investment will provide thousands of jobs especially for the youths.

The Public would also recall that in September 2022, the Government of Sierra Leone distributed 500 Plots of Land to Sierra Leoneans in the Civil Service, Police, Military, Academia, Medical, Press and so on.

At the Bureh and Kent locations, the State also made provisions for the construction of a school, health center, mosque, church, shopping center and a playground for children.
