They made this disclosure at the Citizens’ Public interface platform organized by the Citizens Budget Watch Sierra Leone at the Makeni City Council Hall in Makeni, Bombali district, Northern Sierra Leone.
Aminata Paulina Kargbo, Chief Administrator for the Bombali District Council reechoed the challenges of the council, stating that the district council normally engaged in development activities and at the same time have several developmental initiatives but unfortunately the development fund was nothing to write home about, she ascertained.
Executive Director for the Citizens Budget Watch Sierra Leone, Lamin Vaana said their organization currently operating in four districts across Sierra Leone, and as per mandate they seek to promote budget transparency and accountability for effective public service delivery.
Participants that witnessed the engagement expressed their utmost disappointment on the attitudes of government in relation to the late disbursement of funds.
Some months ago, the government of Sierra Lone instituted the austerity measures, in order to rationalization public expenditures. Ibrahim Kamara submitted that “perhaps the central government is still rationing our city budget” a participant ascertained.
