To mark the 176th Inter-House Speech Day and Prize giving ceremony of the Sierra Leone Grammar School, the Love One Another Campaign (LOAC) has commissioned some Peace Ambassadors, all pupils of the Sierra Leone Grammar School, after a three-weeks intensive training at the school, Murray Town in Freetown.
The low-key event, due to the corona virus pandemic in the country, attracted dignitaries from various works of life.
The Founder and Director of LOAC, Dr. Christian Bell, himself an old boy of the Grammar School, said he is very proud to be at the event, that he taught chemistry and helped to setup the Chemistry Laboratory in the school but that he is now an Ambassador of Love, talked about the Love One Another Campaign and its mandate to promote and demonstrate agape love.
Dr. Bell further thanked God Almighty for his life and obeying the mandate of God stressing that mankind must show love to all without asking questions, underscored that LOAC is God’s campaign as God is love and that love is God as he also reiterated that love is not an option.
He admonished the Peace Ambassadors to go out and preach agape love nationwide disclosing that 18 pupils started the 6-weeks intensive training but that only 17 would be certified informing that he received a mandate from God to form the organisation, that he has published a book on the LOAC, assured that the training of Love Ambassadors would continue as well as the weekly advocacy programs over Redeemers Radio Network and Believers Broadcasting Network respectively.
Rev. Dr. Lionel Betts, quoted Saint Mark’s gospel chapter 17 verse 21 to offer prayers and commissioned the Peace Ambassadors while certificates, T-shirts, stickers, leaflets and the LOAC Personal Pledge were distributed to the Peace Ambassadors by Rev. Mrs. Valerie Bell and Mr. Ransford Wright respectively.
Earlier, the guest speaker at the 170th Inter-House Speech Day and Prize giving ceremony of the Sierra Leone Grammar School, Mr. Modupeh Taylor-Pearce entreated pupils, staff and guests that if they want to succeed in life they must have a focused vision, must be life-long learners and must be reliable and encouraged all to imbibe these values.
Various prizes for the 2019/2021 academic year were presented to pupils for academic performance and staff for dedicated, committed and long service to the school while rendition of songs by the School Choir and Scripture Union formed part of the event.
Prizes were awarded to pupils for proficiency, certificates of merit, best performance in 3 or more subjects, staff for excellent results in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, the West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination and also 100% and less passes in various subjects.
Singing of the School Song and the National Anthem climaxed the ceremony.
