More Time supporters are saying President Ernest Bai Koroma should be given more time to finish some of his very important projects embedded in his Agenda for Prosperity.
A More Time enthusiast who wants to remain anonymous told the Patriotic Vanguard recently:
“We are not saying the President should go in for a third term, which is against the Constitution. We are simply saying he should be given more time or extra time because of the time the Ebola epidemic stole from him and his government. In soccer if there is a disruption in a match the referee gives more time or extra time. That’s what we are saying, it’s the same principle. Former president Kabbah was given more time.”
The More Time debate is likely to end on the floor of the country’s parliament where the ruling party has the majority of seats.
More Time has been viciously criticized by the opposition but not all opposition politicians are against it, according to our sources.
The musicians in Kabala that showed up wearing More Time T-shirts included Colabo, Ragga Spice, Sara D Great and Ackman.
No senior government official has officially addressed the More Time issue; the campaign is currently being led by young party activists, some elderly women calling themselves APC Munku women and now this group of musicians.
More Time has also been taken up by individual APC activists in the diaspora on social media and elsewhere although the various branch executives abroad are as yet holding their fire, apparently waiting for a signal from Freetown.
