He confirmed that the bank is the most profitable bank in the country and announced that the bank made record profit of 90.18 billion Leones for the financial year ending 2018.
Chairman, Dr. Emerson George Taylor- Lewis was speaking during the bank’s 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Bintumani Conference center, Aberdeen in Freetown. He went on to say throughout the years they continued to design different products and provide an array of services that are relevant to their customers and area of operations.
The meeting according to the Chairman was also to present their financial performance and contributions to government and the economy as a whole and went ahead to present their 2018 Annual Report and Financial Record.
Clifford Marcus Robert of Baker Tilly auditing firm in Sierra Leone, informed his audience that the financial statement provides a fair view of the financial position of the bank, adding that the record is in line with international financial reporting standards and the Companies and Banking Act of Sierra Leone.
However, even as the GTB continues to expand its operations across the country, there is still a huge portion of the country’s population that is unbanked, a situation; officials of GTB told AYV they are tackling.
