The donation process happened to be an aspect of the goodwill stance of GWENS (SL), as a reputable non-governmental and non-profit making organization, usual capacity building project.
Delivering her presentation speech, Executive Director, GWENS, Mrs. Mabinty Mansaray intimated her audience that the donation came as a result of a needs assessment survey conducted by her organization in August, 2016 followed by several request from the school authority to assist disadvantage children and also the school which were enormous, noting that they decided to priorities the pupils welfare ahead of the school authorities request, she maintained.
Mrs. Mansaray, also took the opportunity to request for support from other INGO’s, Donors and Philanthropists among others that are passionate about children, women’s, youths and disabled welfare to support and partner with GWENS for the general good, adding that “this is why we are here, to complement the efforts of the government in the education sector”, she ascertained.
Amongst the items donated were school bags, exercise books, pencils, rulers, crayons, glues, eraser and one set uniform to 107 pupils of classes 1 -3, whilst mathematical set, pens and 2b pencils were also presented to 171 pupils of class 6 respectively.
Apparently, source from the REC Primary School established that parents and board of directors of the school have expressed their thanks and appreciation to GWENS, thus called on other welfare organizations to emulate the outstanding and remarkable work of such organization for the betterment of Sierra Leone.
