The Health Education Division at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has on Thursday 26th January, 2023 engaged staff of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire on the need for them to get vaccinated for Covid-19.
Welcoming the Health Team to AYV, Director of News and Current Affairs, Amadu Lamrana Bah thanked them for honoring their request. He said the event could be a foundation upon which the ministry and AYV can build a very good partnership, while encouraging staff members to make good use of the opportunity.
Addressing staff of the Empire, Health Education Program Manager, Harold Thomas said Sierra Leone is amongst the few countries that have made tremendous gains in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic; a situation he described as a reason for which many people no longer believe that the Virus still exists.
Harold went on to say the Virus still exist and that everyone must be conscious of that and follow practices put out by health experts in order to prevent transmission.
Speaking on the need for covid vaccination, he clearly said vaccination is one of the best preventive methods currently and that those who are vaccinated stand better chances of surviving the Virus even if the get it.
He therefore encouraged staff of the Africa Young Voices Media Empire to voluntarily come out and get themselves vaccinated.
Harold also went on to educate all on different types of non-communicable diseases including diabetes.
The floor was opened for questions and he provided answers to the many questions asked by the AYV staff. The event was climaxed by covid vaccination, pressure and diabetes tests.
