The criminal sessions specifically adjudicate cases emanating from cases charged to courts from various police stations across the country and that after these cases are preliminary   investigated by Magistrates, coupled with exhibits and  evidence adduced, they would eventually commit them for High Court for further trails.
The seventeen days vacation period would also enable Judges to relax, reflect and prepared well return to work and proceed with backlog of multiple murder cases, undergoing preliminary investigations in magistrate courts, for onward committal to high court.
However, Judges of the High Courts will still continue to adjudicate civil matters, but will only adjudicate criminal matters after 6 February 2017.
