It was further alleged that the accused, together with unknown individuals, conspired to rob complainant the sum of Le2.3 million and at the same time caused grievous bodily harm to complainant in Freetown.
According to a Detective Police Constable, Katie Conteh, who testified in the on-going trial disclosed that, she was attached to the Western Police Station, otherwise known as Adelaide street police station CID branch, and remembered 13 December 2015.
She explained that, on the above stated date, she was on duty at the Western Police Station, when complainant went and reported a case of conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery with aggravation and against accused person.
Detective Police Constable Katie Conteh also testified that, the matter was then assigned to her and DPC 9905 Ansumana M. for further investigation, and later obtained statement from the complainant in respect of the allegations levied against accused John Conteh.
The witness further disclosed that, she cautioned and questioned accused in Krio, and he made statement to her in Krio, which was recorded in English, adding that, at the conclusion of the interview statement, it was read over to accused, which he accepted to be true and correct, and signed it in his own hand writing.
She said her and DPC 9905 Ansumana M. later charged the accused with the above mentioned offences and continued that the interview statement had since been in the custody of the police.
The state was represented by Joseph Sesay and Elizabeth Jalloh, whiles accused was represented by Cecilia Taulker of the legal aid board.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 16 November 2016.Â
