HRMO Ends Training for Civil Servants

Speaking at the close of the training, Director of Performance at HRMO, David Banya, said the training went on well because they have long developed a performance appraisal since 2010.

He said another area that was dealt with during the training was monitoring, adding that when working to meet a specific performance target for a year, they want to ensure efficient monitoring of target implementations.

He said the annual confidential report that was initially used to assess civil servant was bias and was done on bossy discretion without meeting targets fairly, adding that there is now a new scheme used to evaluate the performances of civil servants from the Permanent Secretary down to the lowest rank officer in the civil service.

The Performance Contract Director said some of the issues they noticed have potentials to undermine civil servants no matter how well they set their targets; hence the need for the training.

He admonished the beneficiaries to pass on the information of what they have learnt.

The Deputy Secretary at State House, Elezebeth Hawa Elley, said the training gave them the opportunity to share ideas amongst themselves and thanked the Human Resource Management Office for conducting the training.
