Buffy Bailor added “we have contributed tremendously to the human resource development in the country, especially in the field of accounting, auditing, taxation and business advisory services.”

He further stated that the institution was also charged with the responsibility of authorising auditors to carry on statutory audits for the private sector in the country. He maintained that the membership of chartered and qualified accountants comprised two hundred and thirty-three professionals and of which thirty-three are female.

He finally called for the partnership of media outlets in the country and that they would not be able to improve the accountancy profession just by themselves, adding that the partnership with the media could mean different thing for them.

Director, ICASL Fatmata Denton stated that they would have to engage schools to ensure that they have more professional accountants and that it would be a plus for the country’s economy, pointing out that they have been challenged over the years with funding that bulk of the funds used was coming from the members. She stated that the government has been providing subvention for them, though it has been minimal.

Vice President, ICASL stated that their institution has been providing advice on the auditor general report; she further stated that they are always ready when called upon to provide professional advice on the improvement of the country’s economy, as a result of the fact that the country development would be reflected upon every societal sectors.
