Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has told staff of the Government Printing Department that things would change under his tenure, and that revenue mobilization would improve. The Minister was speaking during a visit to assess the operational status of the institution. The visit is also part of the Minister’s ongoing assessment of departments and agencies under his purview.
On arrival, the head of the Government Printer, Salifu Lahai Suma, took the Minister and his team, including his Deputy Minister, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi Esq., Permanent Secretary, Dr. Joe Fayia Nyuma, and other senior staff of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, on a tour of the Department, showing machines, some of which he said are over 40 years old and can no longer cope with modern day demands.
Following the tour, the minister promised that his team would engage the Government on the possibility of having the Government Printing Department take full responsibility for printing books meant for the Free Quality Education program to boost revenue generation.
“This is our government printing office, it must be prioritized,” the Minister said while encouraging the Government Printer to explore possibilities of obtaining modern equipment that can print a lot of work in a short time.
He thanked the staff of the department for showing resilience in service to the nation and called on them to be diligent and keep their workplace tidy and conducive.
