He also has well over 20 years experience as Editor of two leading Sierra Leonean newspapers, the New Vision and Global Times.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) Degree in Maas Communications from the Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone.
He was reporter for the Expo Times newspaper, 1996 to 1998; Staff Writer, New Storm newspaper, 2000 to 2003 and later rose to the rank of News Editor in 2003 to 2004.
He later joined the New Vision newspaper in December 2005 to April 2009. He was member of the Editorial Board, Aureol Touch, a University Teaching newspaper (2003-2005).
Sheikh M. Bawoh was a correspondent for Panapress from 2014 to 2016 and until his appointment was Editor, Global Times, Sierra Leone’s most trusted and credible newspaper.
His knowledge and expertise has earned him both national and international recognition this was manifested in his appointment as Fellow of the Edward Murrow Program for Journalists coordinated by the International Visitor’s Leadership Program, US Department of State, October 2008.
Mr. Bawoh was among the few Sierra Leonean Media experts that covered the US elections and was attached to the Foreign Press Center, Washington DC October 26 to November 7, 2008.
He has attended several seminars on media in West Africa, Africa and the United States of America.
Sheikh M. Bawoh was Vice President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) 2011-2012 and has also served as Public Affairs Secretary; Sierra Leone Gild of Editors 2010-2016.
Mr. Bawoh has won a plethora of media awards including the Independent Media Commission (IMC) Award for Best Newspaper Columnist (2006).
Before his appointment as Chairman, Board of Directors SLRSA, Mr. Bawoh has been using his media expertise to help promote road safety in Sierra Leone.
