The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone, headed by the Honourable Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards, will today 27th January, 2023 at 10:00am tender judgement on the Proportional Representation (PR System) case between Honourable Abdul Kargbo, Councilor Hakiratu Maxwell Caulker and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, and the Electoral Commission respectively.
Hon. Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards and four other Judges of the Superior Court of judicature has heard arguments in favor of and against the Proportional Representation Case brought before the Court on its applicability or otherwise in the 2023 multi-tier elections slated for June this year.
The matter was filed by Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and Partners on behalf of Hon. Abdul Kargbo-first Plaintiff and Councillor Hakiratu Maxwell-Caulker- second Plaintiff against the Attorney General and Minister of Justice – first Defendant and the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone – second Defendant.
It could be recalled that the panel commences sitting on Monday 9th January, 2023 and at the same time allowed Counsel in the matter to complete their arguments. The file was withdrawn on the same day and Judgment reserved.
