She outlined a number of challenges facing them including lack of access to basic amenities, stigmatization and marginalization. She called on Government, Human Rights Organisations and Philanthropists and well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to help them achieve their desired goals. Madam Kamara disclosed plans to embark on various activities including commerce, agriculture, skills training ventures and looked to forward to partnering with other organizations with a view to promoting their cause. One of the advisers of the Association, Max A Konneh urged members to be steadfast, focused and committed to ensure the association’s goals are achieved. He underscored the importance of education and entreated them to endeavour to be self-reliant by seeking formal or informal education. “You should not regard yourselves as destitute but progressive citizens as disability is no inability”, he admonished them.
Statements were also heard from other members who pledged their unwavering support and commitment to promoting the objectives of the association.
