He explained about their deployed skills and testing models to bring about the total transformation of Technical and Higher Education.
The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education was created by the Bio administration with the vision to transform Technical and Higher Education in the country. The creation of the ministry is to revamp the Directorate in the former ministry that was dealing with technical and higher education.
Dr. Senesie added that, they have integrated the entire teaching staff in their teacher training colleges and universities into the national payroll, citing that the teachers and lecturers now have time to do their research, provide supervision and ensure mentoring in their respective institutions because they now receive their salaries and other emoluments early.
Dr. Senesie added that teachers’ productivity is very low in the institutions and that they want to correct it, adding that teachers and lecturers are supposed to mentor their students.
He disclosed that they have awarded more than 2,000 grant-in-aids to Sierra Leonean students and that they have also nominated a total 562 foreign scholarships for Sierra Leoneans to study abroad in less than two years.
He added that they have gone far in the student loan scheme, adding that the bidding process in now coming to an end for the rehabilitation of the secretariat and that they are in the process of recruiting key staff for the students’ loan scheme.
